TREKKING TO AIGILA

The Inner Mani has always been a mountain area.

The communication between the villages before the transport network was through the paths that were made with many year’s effort and today they are part of our cultural heritage.

The area around Aegila Boutique Hotel is great for trekking as there are numerus paths to explore. In this guide there is a rather graphic description of the nearest path which leads to the village of Ano Nyfi, the Kournou convent and the ruins of ancient Aigila. It is 2.9 km long and it takes about 1.5 hour to reach the end, so it will take a total of 3 hours to get there and return.

The path begins at the exit of Ano Nyfi village and goes on…

and goes on…….

during the ride you are going to meet a chapel…

and the view will leave you speechless.

View to Kolokithia bay. The nearest village is Ano Nyfi and far to the right you can see Kotronas village, lying next to the sore.

View to Gyalos bay from the Chalopyrgos top. On the backround, Kokkala village next to the sea and the road that leads up to Lagia village.
